Nepal is the custodian of the largest number of Sanskrit manuscripts outside India, and the world's largest extant collection of Sanskrit Buddhist manuscripts. This project integrates metadata of Buddhist manuscripts in the collection of Akshesvara Mahavihara in Lalitpur, which Prof. Shanker Thapa digitized with support from the British Library’s Endangered Archives Programme. These manuscripts were donated by Pandits Vachaspati Bajracharya and Pt Shukra Raj Bajracharya to the Buddha Vihara Sangha, which handed them over to the Aksheswara Mahavihara.
