A set of a hundred (or so) verses, usually on a single subject or personality, sometimes with a common refrain in the last line.  It is useful to distinguish the devotional and didactic śatakas seen in Kannada and Telugu (e.g. Pampāśataka, Rakṣāśataka), from the rather belletristic śatakas of Sanskrit (e.g. Sūryaśataka, śṛṅgāraśataka).
